Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 pupils are taught the National Curriculum for English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Design and Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Physical Education and Religious Education. Personal, Social and Health Education is also taught through the Jigsaw programme. Religious Education is taught to all children based on Local Authority guidelines.

Each day pupils have Reading, Writing and Mathematics lessons. Wider Curriculum learning forms part of our Irresistible Learning topics which are chosen to appeal to our pupils, build on their interests and reflect the diversity of our school.

At the end of the Year 1, pupils take the Phonics Screening Check which is a short assessment where children read words to show how well they can use phonics to decode them. If a child does not meet the expected standard in Year 1, they will receive extra phonics support and take the screening check again in Year 2.
