Palmers Cross Primary School 1–17 Dovecotes Primary School

December 14, 2015

By Deborah and Beverley (Year 5)

The Dovecotes Primary School football team started the season with a convincing win against Palmers Cross away from home on Thursday 22nd October.

The game began in cold, cloudy conditions and Dovecotes began slowly with Mr Evans and Mr Tuckley looking anxious on the side-line. However, they soon grew in confidence and Keane nearly opened the scoring but he tripped at the last minute.

Soon after, Dovecotes scored their first goal of the game and they didn’t look back, taking an early 3-0 lead through goals from Caevahn, Keane and Elijah. The defence were playing very well, with James, Cameron and Ashley all making vital clearances throughout the match.

Palmers Cross did pull a goal back to make the score 3-1, but this only motivated Dovecotes further. By half-time the score was an incredible 8-1, the sun was now shining, and everyone was playing out of their skin. Mr Evans and Mr Tuckley encouraged the players at half-time and Kieran came on in the place of Connor, who had just scored a wonderful goal.

The goals continued fly in, with Caevahn, Keane and Elijah scoring again and Julio getting his name on the score sheet. Rio made a series of excellent saves and the defence continued to play brilliantly.

Keane finished with 6 goals and the when the whistle was blown, the final score was 17-1 to Dovecotes Primary School.

It was a fantastic game and everyone played very well.

When asked who he thought deserved to be Player of the Match, Kieran replied, “All the team played very well, they all deserve the award!”

We agree!
